About the event

This year brings the 75th Anniversary of the Second World War, known as Victory Day, on the 9th May.

During the week surrounding this time, various companies, charities, supporters and individuals are coming together in order to organise an entire project of celebration and appreciation.

Znaniye Foundation, Groundwork, Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian Cultural House of London), the Russian Embassy, and other contributors, are working together to organise a fully expenses paid trip for WWII Veterans of the war during this week, ceremonies of laying wreaths at the graves of fallen soldiers as well as various community and local events in recognition, such as tours of London, an 900 person concert, including guests such as the Arctic Convoy Veterans and Chelsea Pensioners.

The goal for the project is to attract various communities to join in celebration and support, to highlight the greatness of the World War II veterans, to honor the memory of those who laid down their lives for world peace, and to promote the unity of people of different nationalities living in Great Britain around a world-wide Victory.

We are looking to bring together a diverse group of people such as primary schools, pensioners, local musical and performance groups, local small and large scale businesses, to show their appreciation, all our partners are passionate about international support and diversity.

For the running of the events, the entire team will be working with volunteers through an impact programme for migrants, local volunteers as well as opening up experience volunteer positions for people not currently in training or education, but that are interested in singing, dancing, sound management, videography, cinematography, lighting and so on to be a part of the day and receive references and experience.

We currently have incredible local and multicultural choirs, a Refugee and Asylum Seekers Choir, local and Russian/Ex Soviet Countries Children’s dance groups, local performances, and more..

However, for the event all partners are working without pay, so in order for the event to run effectively we are working on securing funding and donations for the production, Veterans accommodation, travel and other expenses involved in the large scale remembrance.

Tickets soon to be released.
